There are two kinds of aluminum dock products in the market. The first kind comes from a catalog. National brands stamp out the same extrusion profiles year after year, sell them through distributors and hardware chains, and let dealers compete on price until nobody makes money.
The second kind starts with an engineer, a set of proprietary dies, and thirty years of understanding what waterfront aluminum actually needs to do in a Maine winter, a tidal estuary, a commercial marina, and a government-funded public access facility. That is Alummikon.
We own eleven proprietary aluminum extrusion dies designed by Shane Richards specifically for Alummikon's product line. They produce extrusion profiles that are unique to our manufacturing process. No competitor in our market has access to these profiles. No national brand can duplicate them.
The aluminum sections that make up your dock, stairs, ramp, or gangway were engineered for their specific purpose — not adapted from a generic industrial profile. The geometry is right. The wall thickness is right. The structural performance under load, under ice pressure, under seasonal expansion and contraction — all of it was designed in.
Alummikon holds a Professional Engineer stamp valid in 49 states. A PE stamp means a licensed engineer has reviewed, designed, and taken professional responsibility for the structural integrity of the system being installed.
Most dock companies cannot provide a PE stamp. They are locked out of commercial projects, municipal contracts, government installations, and any job where a building official requires an engineer of record. We are not locked out of any of those projects.
Our PE stamp has won real projects against real competition. Alummikon was awarded a FEMA-related waterfront project and a separate municipal contract — both won specifically because of our engineering credentials. In both cases our competitors could not meet the PE stamp requirement. We could. We won.
Aluminum Dock Stairs and Ramps — The 100 Tread Pack — five complete 20-tread stair sets as a single dealer SKU. A category we invented.
Floating Docks — Custom floating dock systems with Astroplastic decking that outperforms composite and never rots.
Stationary Sectional Docks — Built with proprietary extrusion profiles stronger than commodity sectional systems.
Gangways and Walkways — Custom-length, PE-stamped, ADA-compliant configurations available.
Swim Rafts — Floating swim platforms with marine-grade aluminum and Astroplastic decking.
ADA-Compliant Ramps — PE-stamped ramp systems meeting ADA requirements.
Astroplastic Decking — Proprietary decking surface. Better than composite. Available on all systems.
6-Bay Freestanding Kayak Rack — All-aluminum. Manufactured in-house. No wood, no rust, no rot.
Thirty years ago the foundation of Alummikon was laid on the shores of Sebago Lake in Naples, Maine. Everything we know about waterfront aluminum — how it performs under ice load, how it handles thermal expansion in a Maine winter, how it needs to be engineered for tidal exposure versus freshwater lakes — we learned it by building it. Tens of thousands of feet of aluminum. Hundreds of waterfront installations. Thirty years of refinement.
